What's happening in HANDBAG world?
We've finally finished our film! It's been fifteen years since we first started, and in that time we've laughed, cried, consumed way too much champagne, and survived three crowd-funding campaigns to bring you our hard-working, funny, feminist and queer-as-fuck movie. We have loved every second of bringing the film to life, even in the miserable times when we weren't sure it would ever happen, and we can't wait for you to see it as well!

"Monica Davidson is a third-generation fag hag: a straight female friend to gay men. Now, she’s on a mission to bring fag hags – or ‘handbags’, a term she prefers – out of the shadows. She’s already marched alongside a giant pink handbag in this year’s Mardi Gras parade, and now she’s making a funny, heartfelt documentary film about the fag hag experience."

"Handbag - Journey of a 3rd Generation Fag Hag, the doco, produced by Phoebe Hart, will delve into the “iconic relationship between gay men and straight women.”Monica Davidson is the face behind the leather clutch, preferring the term ‘handbag’, “partly because it’s gender neutral and partly because I consider myself to be a fabulous accessory.” Now with three children of her own, potentially the fourth generation of ‘handbags’ to come, Davidson can’t help but joke about how she became one of the most loved members of the queer community, “Has a memo gone around to the gay community that I’m someone you should be friends with?” With references to becoming an old cat lady and drinking herself to oblivion, it seems Davidson’s tale might be one to hold close to one’s side."
